Brooker has taught creative writing at San Francisco State University and San Francisco City College. Currently, her poems are published in an anthology with Mangrove Press. Her latest novel about the art world is in process of publication. God Doesn’t Make Trash, a memoir about a San Francisco journalist caught in the AIDS holocaust in the early Eighties, is optioned for a film. She has published with local and national magazines.

“Painting and writing are one story,” Brooker says. She is interested in capturing characterization, desire, and joy. “I want my surfaces to be beautiful, and the calligraphic lines to capture energy.”
