FY 2012-13 and FY 2013-14
Transit Capital Priorities Call for Projects
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is soliciting transit projects from eligible federal grantees for programming:
- The estimated $793 million regional apportionments of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5307 Urbanized Area, 5309 Fixed Guideway, 5337 State of Good Repair, and 5339 Bus & Bus Facilities funds (together referred to as Transit Capital Priorities or TCP) in FY 2012-13 and FY 2013-14;
- The $37 million of federal Surface Transportation Program (STP) funds dedicated to augmenting the TCP funds in the Commission’s Cycle 2 Programing Policy; and
- Approximately $22 million of matching AB 664 bridge toll funds.
Applications are due to MTC by Wednesday, October 31, 2012.
Proposed projects will be used to develop preliminary TCP programs for FY 2012-13 and FY 2013-14, which will be amended into the region’s Transportation Improvement Program. The preliminary programs will be revised to reconcile to actual revenues after FTA issues the final apportionments for each year. Providing a preliminary two-year program is intended to help transit operators with multi-year capital budgeting, and to help the region take a longer-term view of capital replacement needs.
Project sponsors are requested to apply for funds using the Excel project template included as Attachment 2. Instructions regarding the template are included in Attachment 3. Completed templates should be emailed to Glen Tepke at gtepke@mtc.ca.gov by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.
