STP/CMAQ

Federal Aid Process/Climate Initiatives Competitive Grants Program Overview

On Tuesday, November 9, 2010, MTC hosted a Federal Aid Process/Climate Initiatives Competitive Grants Program Overview workshop for all project sponsors receiving STP/CMAQ grants during the 2011 and 2012 fiscal years to learn about the federal-aid process. This involved grants from the following programs:

  • CMA Block Grants (Regional Bicycle Program, County TLC Program, Local Streets and Roads Rehabilitation Program)
  • Climate Initiatives Innovative / Creative SR2S Grants

At the start of the workshop a module was included to discuss MTC program management requirements targeting the Climate Initiatives Competitive Grants Program grantees.

Following, Caltrans presented an overview of the federal-aid process and was available to answer questions. FHWA staff was also in attendance to discuss federal regulations as needed. The presentation was well-suited for project managers who have no familiarity with the federal-aid process and how it will apply to their project. Note that Caltrans periodically offers a several-day workshop on the federal-aid process that is in-depth; but it is not scheduled until next spring.

MTC staff also discussed regional project delivery and the Transportation Improvement Program.
