U.S. Department of Justice ADA Information and Technical Assistance
The U.S. Department of Justice operates a toll-free ADA Information Line to provide
information and publications to the public about the requirements of the ADA. Automated service, which
allows callers to listen to recorded information and to order publications, is available 24 hours a
day, seven days a week. ADA specialists are available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from
10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., and on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. (Eastern time). Spanish
language service is available. To obtain general ADA information, get answers to technical questions,
order free ADA materials, or ask about filing a complaint, call:

The U.S. Department of Justice provides technical assistance and education to businesses,
governments, and members of the general public. This includes the ADA Information Line, developing and
disseminating technical assistance materials, undertaking outreach initiatives, operating an ADA
technical assistance grant program, and coordinating ADA technical assistance government-wide.
ADA Fax on Demand
The ADA Information Line's Fax Delivery Service allows the public to obtain free ADA information by
fax 24 hours a day, seven days a week. By entering the appropriate document code number, callers can
select from among 28 different ADA technical assistance publications and receive the information,
usually within minutes, directly on their fax machines or computer fax/modems. To order a list of all
the ADA publications, call: 800-514-0301 and request Publication 3000. Publications on this list marked
"Fax" with a number can be ordered through the automated code number listed to the left. A sample of
available publications follows.
Fax 3101 - ADA Information Services
A 2-page list with the telephone numbers and Internet and electronic bulletin board addresses of
federal agencies and other organizations that provide information and technical assistance to the
public about the ADA.
Fax 3104 - Learn About the ADA in Your Local Library
A 10-page annotated list of 95 ADA publications and one videotape that are available in 15,000
public libraries throughout the country.
Fax 3105 - Myths and Facts
A 3-page publication dispelling some common misconceptions about the ADA's requirements and
implementation.
Fax 3303 - Commonly Asked Questions About Title II of the ADA
A 6-page publication providing information for state and local governments about ADA requirements
for ensuring that people with disabilities receive the same service and benefits as provided to
others.
Fax 3204 - Commonly Asked Questions About Service Animals in Places of Business
A 3-page publication providing information about service animals and ADA requirements.
Publications and Documents
Copies of the Department's ADA regulations and publications, including the Technical Assistance
Manuals for titles II and III, and information about the Department's technical assistance grant
program, can be obtained by calling the ADA Information Line or writing to the address listed below.
All materials are available in standard print as well as large print, Braille, audiotape, or computer
disk for persons with disabilities.

The Department of Justice's regulation implementing Title III, subtitle A, of the ADA, which
prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability by businesses and non-profit service agencies.
SEARCHING THE ADA WEBSITE HOME PAGE IS EASY
A "search engine" added to the Department's ADA home page makes it easy to find information
contained in the ADA documents and files available at the website.
To conduct a search, select the "Search the ADA Home Page" link which is located at the bottom of
the ADA home page. You can use any key word or phrase to search through all documents and files linked
to the home page.
ADA Website Home Page
An ADA home page is operated by the Department of Justice on the Internet's World Wide Web
(http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/adahom1.htm). The
home page provides information about:
- the toll-free ADA Information Line,
- the Department's ADA enforcement activities,
- the ADA technical assistance program,
- certification of state and local building codes,
- proposed changes in ADA regulations and requirements, and
- the ADA mediation program.
