National Transit Database
Each year, almost 600 transit operators report to FTA on transit activities in more than 400 urbanized areas. Nationally, 85,000 transit vehicles, 7,000 miles of rail track, 2,000 rail stations, and 1,000 maintenance facilities are included in this database.

Bus Rapid Transit Information Clearing House
The Clearinghouse is a project of the California Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways (PATH) Program, (a research unit of the Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) at the University of California, Berkeley), in partnership with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) , and the National BRT Institute, (a joint endeavor between PATH/UC and the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of Florida.)

Federal Transit Administration
FTA is one of 11 operating administrations within the U.S. Department of Transportation with 517 employees located in Washington, DC and 10 regional offices across the nation. Headed by an Administrator who is appointed by the President of the United States, FTA provides stewardship of combined formula and discretionary programs totaling more than $10B to support a variety of locally planned, constructed, and operated public transportation systems throughout the U.S., including buses, subways, light rail, commuter rail, streetcars, monorail, passenger ferry boats, inclined railways, and people movers.
