GIS Data

GIS data that MTC can share with others are organized into three categories. Unless otherwise specified, all data are zipped ArcView shape files in NAD83, UTM, zone 10, meters.

• Category 1 - Data that can be shared with no restrictions
• Category 2 - GDT derivative data that MTC can share with no restrictions
• Category 3 - GDT basemap data that can only be shared with MTC's partnership agencies (at the discretion of MTC) and with consultants under contract with MTC.

Other GIS data links are provided by BAAMA. Additional MTC data are on the DataMart and Bay Area Census sites.

MTC Data Sharing Policy

MTC maintains an extensive data base, in machine readable and hard copy forms, to support regional transportation planning. These various data files, as well as maps and other graphic pieces, are public records, and MTC welcomes their use by the planning community throughout the region.

MTC data is collected and analyzed by MTC staff. The appropriate use of such data in other planning programs and studies must be determined entirely by the planners and analysts of the firm or agency undertaking such projects. MTC makes no warranties, expressed or implied, of the appropriateness or accuracy of any results or opinions derived from any project not conducted or sponsored by MTC utilizing MTC's data.
