Transportation-Related Characteristics from Census 2000

(This page was created 5/17/02 and updated 9/18/02.)

The first set of new “long form” data from the year 2000 decennial census is now available. This page provides links to some of the relevant transportation-related statistics based on historical and current census data.

The “long form” was answered by approximately 1-in-6 residents in the United States, and about 1-in-8 urban households. This means that the Bay Area census data is based on responses from over 300,000 households.

This current census data release is part of the Census Bureau’s “Demographic Profile” series. Profiles for your community can be obtained from the Census Bureau’s web site at: http://censtats.census.gov/pub/Profiles.shtml.

More comprehensive data analyses will be forthcoming in future MTC Transactions and MTC Census Data Summaries.
