These files are the 1099-by-1099 regional zone summaries from the final version of STP214 (April 1996). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- These four files are: RTAZFLOW.GR1 3003118 bytes -- Workers, Income quartile #1 RTAZFLOW.GR2 5745490 bytes -- Workers, Income quartile #2 RTAZFLOW.GR3 8069934 bytes -- Workers, Income quartile #3 RTAZFLOW.GR4 6725438 bytes -- Workers, Income quartile #4 These files are zipped into the following four archives: RTAZG1.ZIP 347766 bytes RTAZG2.ZIP 651401 bytes RTAZG3.ZIP 907466 bytes RTAZG4.ZIP 755280 bytes --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The household income quartiles used in these files are as follows: 1 - Less than $25,000 2 - $25,000 to $44,999 3 - $45,000 to $74,999 4 - $75,000+ The codes for the means of transportation to work used in these files are as follows: 1 - All Means, Total 2 - Drove alone 3 - 2-person carpool 4 - 3-person carpool 5 - 4-or-more person carpool 6 - Bus or trolleybus 7 - Streetcar, trolley car, subway or elevated 8 - Railroad or ferryboat 9 - Bicycle 10 - Walked 11 - Taxicab, motorcycle or other means 12 - Worked at Home The file format for all files is as follows: 1-3 County of Residence (Census codes) 4-7 Place of Residence (Census codes) 8-11 Zone of Residence (MTC 1099 zone system) 12-14 County of Work (Census codes) 15-18 Place of Work (Census codes) 19-22 Zone of Work (MTC 1099 zone system) 23-24 Income Quartile Code (1-4) 25-26 Means of Transportation to Work Code (1-12) 27-32 Number of Workers **************************************************************************** The raw, original data file for STP214 is also available from MTC. This file is at the block group level for within the Bay Area and at the census tract level for neighboring counties. The income and means of transportation codes are the same as on these 1099 zone summary files.
