Carquinez Bridge
The classic suspension span shown on the left in this simulation replaces the aging western half of the Carquinez Bridge.
Construction crews and cranes at work on the new span of the Carquinez Bridge, building the southern approach structure and installing foundations for the southernmost of the new bridge's twin suspension towers. The graceful new span replaces the seismically unsafe 74-year-old steel truss structure and includes a fourth traffic lane as well as a pedestrian/ bicycle path. San Mateo-Hayward Bridge
The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge widening (as seen in this enhanced photo) adds badly needed traffic lanes and shoulders to the span.
On the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge, concrete trucks line up, pouring a new bridge deck. The trestle portion and eastern approach of the bridge were widened to six lanes to match the capacity of the soaring high-rise portion of the span. Benicia-Martinez Bridge
A second span for the Benicia-Martinez Bridge (seen on the right in this computer-enhanced photo) is being built east of the existing span.
