Bay Area residents are invited to share their vision for the Bay Area regional rail system at a series of public workshops being held in November and December. The meetings are the first step in developing the Regional Rail Plan – a comprehensive blueprint to improve and extend passenger railroad, rapid transit and high-speed rail service over the next 50 years. Hosted by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, BART, Caltrain and the California High-Speed Rail Authority, the meetings will help create a vision for rail in the Bay Area, including possible rail extensions, new routes and stations, and establish criteria for evaluating those proposals. The California High-Speed Rail Authority will also be launching its environmental study on proposed high-speed rail routes between the Bay Area and the Central Valley.
