Torlakson to Hold Infrastructure Bond Hearing in Oakland

$10.3 Billion Bond to be Discussed With Regional Planners on Wednesday, December 7th

OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 5, 2005 . . . Senator Tom Torlakson will hold a hearing to discuss SB 1024, The Safe Facilities, Improved Mobility, Disaster Preparedness and Clean Air Bond Act, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 in the MetroCenter Auditorium in Oakland (101 Eighth Street, Oakland).

Torlakson is the joint author of the $10.3 billion bond legislation and chair of the Senate Select Committee on California Infrastructure. The bond would be used to fund infrastructure investment and upgrades across the state, including: highways, public transit, levees, rail, and infill and transit-oriented development incentives.

At the hearing, Torlakson will hear from two of the Bay Area’s top regional planners, Therese McMillan, Deputy Executive Director, Policy, for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and Janet McBride, Planning Director, for the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG).
