Press ReleaseFor Immediate ReleaseVallejo Intermodal Station Project Gets Boost From Regional Measure 2 CashOAKLAND, Calif., June 13, 2007 . . . The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)’s Programming and Allocations Committee recommended approval today of a $2.8 million allocation of voter-approved Regional Measure 2 bridge toll money to the City of Vallejo. The funds will help finance right-of-way appraisal and final design for the proposed Vallejo Station Intermodal Facility on the city’s downtown waterfront. “Vallejo Station is the centerpiece of a public/private partnership that will not only improve mobility but enhance livability in the waterfront area,” explained Solano County Supervisor Jim Spering, who represents Solano County on the Commission. “The station will combine a local bus transfer center, a new parking garage for ferry passengers, and improved pedestrian connections to the ferry terminal and downtown Vallejo. The plan is for private developers to build new housing and commercial space on adjacent sites.” The funding approved by the Programming and Allocations Committee includes $2.4 million for final design of the 1,200-space Vallejo Station Intermodal Public Parking Structure, York Street Paseo Park and various streetscape improvements, plus $400,000 to finance right-of-way appraisals for planned property acquisitions. The full Commission will vote on the committee recommendation at its June 27 meeting. MTC has now allocated more than $470 million in Measure 2 funds. The commitments to date include $410 million for 30 separate capital projects and $60 million for transit operations around the Bay Area. MTC is the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area’s transportation planning, coordinating and financing agency. # # # |
