The purpose of the Minority Citizens Advisory Committee (MCAC) is to involve minority communities in the transportation planning process for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area, and to ensure that the views and needs of minority communities are adequately reflected in MTC policies. MTC is the regional transportation planning and financing agency in the Bay Area. MCAC includes representatives from the region's African-American, Asian, Latino and Native American communities. Experience in working with the community or community-related issues is desirable. No specific educational requirements are required. While positions are voluntary, committee members receive a stipend and travel expenses for their attendance at the monthly meetings, held at MTC's offices in Oakland on the third Tuesday of the month, at 3:30 p.m. Each member serves a two-year term. Applications will be reviewed and committee members selected by MTC's governing board of
commissioners. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a letter of intent or resume by May 15,
1998, or until positions are filled, to Karen Frick, MTC staff liaison to the committee, at MTC, 101
