Oakland, Calif., December 9, 1999. . . The date of an MTC-sponsored transportation workshop in San Francisco has been changed. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, December 14th, the public workshop on the Bay Area Transportation Blueprint for the 21st Century has been moved instead to Thursday, December 16th to avoid a conflict with the runoff election that will be held in the city on that day. The meeting will still be held at the offices of the San Francisco Transportation Authority, which is cosponsoring the workshop. The specifics of the workshop are as follows.

Thursday, December 16, 1999, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
San Francisco County Transportation Authority
(25th Floor)
100 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94102

The San Francisco workshop is the last in a series of public meetings being held in each of the nine Bay Area counties by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, in conjunction with county-level congestion management agencies. The Bay Area Transportation Blueprint for the 21st Century is a major MTC planning effort aimed at identifying, prioritizing and building support for projects that can improve and expand the regional transportation network – beyond the levels provided for in current plans.

The San Francisco workshop will feature a presentation outlining proposed transportation improvements, with special attention to the challenges facing San Francisco. New funding opportunities also will be explored.

For more information (including directions to the meeting location), contact the MTC Public Information Office by telephone at 510.817.5757, or by e-mail at info@mtc.ca.gov, or visit the agency's Web site at <www.mtc.ca.gov>.

MTC is the transportation planning, coordinating and financing agency for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.
