The Route 24/Caldecott Tunnel Corridor Study is evaluating conditions at the Caldecott Tunnel and along the Route 24 Corridor between Interstate 680 in Contra Costa County and Interstate 580 in Alameda County, and identifying transportation improvements that would alleviate congestion in this corridor. The study is assessing a full range of transportation options, including not only a new tunnel bore, but also improvements to transit, carpooling, non-motorized options and local streets.

The public meetings will consist of a formal presentation by MTC on the transportation strategies being considered in the Route 24/Caldecott Tunnel Corridor Study; a period for public comments; and an "open house" segment during which participants can visit various information booths, view study materials and ask questions of agency staff and study consultants. Members of the public will be invited to comment on the transportation projects and packages presented, and share their ideas on ways to improve travel through the Route 24 corridor.

For more information on the Route 24/Caldecott Tunnel Corridor Study (including directions to the meeting locations), contact MTC project manager Doug Kimsey by telephone at 510.817.5790, by email at dkimsey@mtc.ca.gov, or visit the agency's Web site at <www.mtc.ca.gov>.
