OAKLAND, Calif., March 10, 2000 . . . The Metropolitan Transportation Commission
(MTC) – the regional transportation planning, financing and coordinating agency for the
nine-county San Francisco Bay Area – is looking for college students to participate in its summer
internship program.
"A student doesn't have to be majoring in transportation to benefit from the program," noted MTC
Executive Director Lawrence D. Dahms.
MTC, with offices in Oakland, has vacancies for 11 college students. Interns selected will be offered
an opportunity to work full-time between June and September. The college internship program provides
training opportunities in a wide variety of projects for aspiring professionals. Either graduate or
undergraduate students may apply in one or more of the positions available this summer for which they
are qualified. The positions call for students studying in the following range of fields:
transportation planning, transportation engineering, city and regional planning, public policy, public
administration, public finance, urban studies, library sciences, journalism, communications, English,
education, psychology, or related fields.
A complete list of intern positions can be found on MTC's Web site, located at <www.mtc.ca.gov>.
Applications can be downloaded from the Web site. To request that an application be sent via mail,
contact MTC at the Job Hotline (510/464-7818), or e-mail MTC at <jobhotline@mtc.ca.gov>.
Completed applications must be received at MTC's office no later than
4 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2000.
