To: Transportation Reporters

Date: Tuesday, May 22, 2001

The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) will release summary results of a recent poll of Bay Area registered voters on transportation issues, on the MTC Web site — www.mtc.ca.gov — on Wednesday, May 23rd at 10 a.m. Summary results of a Web site survey and of public workshops held throughout the Bay Area on transportation issues will also be posted on the Web at the same time.

The public opinion information MTC has gathered over the past three months will help guide the agency in developing the 2001 Regional Transportation Plan.

The poll and survey information will be presented at the May 23rd MTC Commission meeting, which begins at 10 a.m. at the Joseph P. Bort MetroCenter, 101 Eighth Street, Oakland. The meeting will be audiocast on the MTC Web site.

A similar presentation on the transportation poll and survey results will be made at the MTC Citizens Advisory Council at 11:30 a.m., following the Commission meeting

For more information on the poll and survey results, call Randy Rentschler, MTC manager of legislation and public affairs, at 510/817-5780; e-mail: rrents@mtc.ca.gov.
