Inauguration of Golden Gate Transit Bus Route 40
For Release: September 10, 2001
WHAT: A press conference to inaugurate expansion of Golden Gate Transit bus route 40,
which connects East Bay to West Bay across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (see note below about second,
related event)
WHY: The expanded bus route, which became effective Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, links the
underutilized work force in West Contra Costa County with employment opportunities in Marin County,
providing more weekend as well as weekday trips, extended hours of service, and greater number of stops
on both sides of the Bay. On-call backup taxi service for bicyclists also is available during regular
Route 40 operating hours.
