Testing
TransLink®

TransLink® is moving forward, but participants are needed and you can help!
Before we offer this new way of paying for transit rides to the general public, we are
testing the service with a group of volunteers — and the offer to participate has
been extended. We encourage you to try TransLink® for the next six months during this
testing phase and give us your feedback.
You will be able to pay fares on several different Bay Area transit systems with a
single TransLink® smart card, which is about the size of a credit card. The smart card
will keep track of a stored value equivalent to cash, passes and/or ticket books,
automatically deducting the correct fares.
The card is valid on selected routes and at certain stations of six of the region's
largest transit agencies: AC Transit, BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, San Francisco
Muni and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
As a small gesture of thanks for participating in the TransLink® test phase, your
TransLink® "smart card" will be loaded with $3 in electronic cash (e-cash) — so
your first ride is on us!
