MTC-Recommended Improvements to Existing Ferry Services and Facilities, 1998-2004
Alameda/Oakland Ferry
Purchase two additional high-speed (25-30 knot), 400-passenger ferries $8,000,000
Build maintenance and fueling facility on Alameda Point (former Alameda Naval Air Station) 2,000,000
Upgrade Alameda ferry terminal 1,375,000

MTC also recommends that the city of Alameda integrate the Harbor Bay ferry operations with the Alameda/Oakland service. With a single contractor, the two services could reduce operating costs and better deploy crews and vessels between them.
Golden Gate Ferry
Purchase two new high-speed (35-40 knot), 400-passenger ferries 17,300,000
Build two new floating docks in Larkspur and San Francisco 4,500,000
Provide additional feeder bus service to Larkspur terminal and study feasibility of adding parking or changing terminal to improve traffic 3,500,000
