Bike to Work DayPedal Your Way to a Healthy Commute
If you need an incentive to pedal to the office on Bike to Work Day, consider this:
Bicycling burns 350 to 700 calories an hour. And if that's not incentive enough, how about
this: When you register for Bike to Work Day, you'll be eligible to win great prizes,
including a weekend getaway for two in Napa.
Set for Thursday, May 16, Bike to Work Day is a collaborative effort of RIDES for Bay
Area Commuters (which is subsidized by MTC), local bicycle coalitions and hundreds of
volunteers.
Numerous local events are being planned for the days and weeks leading up to Bike to
Work Day, and more than 100 stations will offer refreshments and encouragement to
bicyclists on the morning of Bike to Work Day.
If you can't pedal all the way to work, bike to transit. Most Bay Area transit carriers
have bike facilities, such as lockers or bike racks.
