Commission Actions

• Approved for forwarding to the Federal Transit Administration two grant requests from BART. One is for $74.9 million in fiscal year 2001-02 "New Starts" money for the extension to San Francisco International Airport. The second request, for $10.7 million, will cover replacement of existing faregates and provide a platform for future integration of BART's fare collection system with the TransLink¨ universal fare card.
• Voted to support seven bills, including Assembly Bill 1937 (Dutra), which would improve transit agencies' ability to partner with the private sector to promote development near stations and stops; and AB 2535 (Diaz), which would require Caltrans to annually report on the traffic performance of Bay Area freeways.
