Pavement Management ResourcesUsers of MTC's Pavement Management System (PMS -- see
article) have some new weapons in their arsenal to fight
potholes. An updated and improved Web site -- www.mtcpms.org -- incorporates a bulletin board designed to
provide hotline support, foster discussion and facilitate software "bug" reporting. The
site also lists upcoming events and provides an electronic version of MTC's Street Talk
newsletter, which deals with a variety of topics of interest to public works directors.
Meanwhile, Version 7.5 of MTC's PMS software is now available. The software has many new
features, including the ability to quickly compare the impact of various funding options on
the overall condition of the road network.
Current MTC PMS users in the Bay Area and Oregon will be charged $250 for the software
upgrade, while those outside the region and consultants will pay $500. Cities, counties and
consultants new to the program are charged double these amounts. PMS users also have the
option of purchasing a sophisticated mapping add-on from an outside vendor (at a
substantial additional charge) that allows them to graphically display pavement data.
To order the software or upgrade, contact Sze-Lei Leong by telephone at
510.817.5803, or e-mail him at sleong@mtc.ca.gov.
