June 2002
Deputy Director Honored by
Women's Group
The local chapter of the Women's Transportation
Seminar (WTS) has named Therese W. McMillan, MTC's deputy director for policy, its 2002
Member of the Year.
McMillan is being honored both for her leadership role within the WTS, as well as for
spearheading coalitions around critical transportation issues regionally and at the state
level. The principal architect of the recently adopted Regional Transit Expansion Program,
which sets priorities for the next generation of rail and rapid bus expansion projects in
the Bay Area, McMillan also is a member of the Transportation Research Board's Committee on
Intergovernmental Relations and Policy Processes and in 1998Ð99 served as chair of the
statewide Regional Transportation Planning Agencies group.
Energetic and hard-working, McMillan also is firm about balancing her outside
commitments with the needs of her two young children — traits that make her a "role
model to others in the organization," in the words of the WTS.
