What kind of value can I put on my Clipper card?

How do I use my Clipper card to ride transit?

Tag On: Find the Clipper card reader on the bus or at fare gates, stations or ferry terminals. Hold your card flat against the reader until you hear a beep and see a green light, or the BART fare gate displays “OK”.

Tag Off: When you ride transit systems that charge by the distance you travel—BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit and the San Francisco Bay Ferry—you’ll need to tag again at the end of your trip. This ensures Clipper only charges you for the distance you actually traveled.

How do I check my Clipper card’s value?

You can always check your balance online or through Clipper Customer Service. Card readers will also display your balance or expiration dates.

Can I use Clipper to pay for parking?

You can use Clipper to pay for parking in select San Francisco garages. Learn more.
