Poor quality pavement can exact a heavy toll on pedestrians as well as motorists. This lesson hit close to home in the summer of 2014 when Michele DiFrancia, an Oakland consultant who works with MTC and other transportation agencies, suffered a broken foot after falling into a sunken section of a downtown street.  Ms. DiFrancia tells her story in this video segment, which highlights the human cost of poor quality pavement.
